Brad Campkin and Roland Goreski of Campkins RV Centre are travelling to Indiana as guests of Forest River Inc, a Berkshire Hathaway Company.

Forest River Inc. expects more than 1,600 people from about 600 RV dealerships to attend the company’s second annual dealer show Sept. 23-24 at its Elkhart, Ind., headquarters.

Some 300 towable and motorized RVs will be on display, according to Forest River General Manager Jeff Babcock. ”This is by far a bigger show than last year,” Babcock said. ”We are going to have 150 more units here than we did last year.”

Additionally, new floorplans will be introduced in Forest River’s retro-look R-Pod travel trailer. Plus lot’s of new features for Brands like Surveyor, Wildcat and Clipper Campers by Coachmen.

As Forest River did last year, the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. subsidiary will cover food and lodging costs for visiting dealers.

”We’ve had an unbelievable response from dealers,” Babcock said. ”Last year was small potatoes compared to what’s going to be going on this year.”

Durham RV Club

I would like to thank Michael and Tania of Grangeways Trailer Park, 9700 Concession Rd. #3 in Sandford ON, on behalf of the Durham RV Club for our recent and first outing on June 19-21, 2009. Our club found the RV park and campground very clean and diverse in many areas of entertainment for our children and ourselves. Though Saturday proved to be a little damp, the service and friendliness to our needs made the day warmer and brighter. We were hoping to have a children and adult game day followed by a BBQ on Saturday, but the weather was not cooperative and left us trying to arrange other means so we could have our BBQ at least. I asked at the front desk for assistance in using one of the facilities for our event but was politely declined. To make a long story short, the next thing I hear is Mike running around looking for me because he heard about my request. He finally found me and took me around to show me a place we could use. He brought games for the kids and adults, a stereo and music CD’s and had everything set up, then transported everything from the one venue to the other. He also brought a BBQ for us to use and gave us the recreation hall to serve our needs out of the rain. I cannot express how pleased and elated everyone was with the hospitality and personal touch to make that day happen for us. Our warmest and sincerest thanks to everyone (especially Mike) for taking the time to do all this for us. The Club agreed to once again book at the facility before season’s end. It isn’t often you find a place where people care about the little things and it is nice to see they haven’t forgotten that service means a lot.

We would also like to thank Campkin’s RV Centre for supplying goodie bags for our club members.

The members who attended were just fantastic. Their spirits were high and they were delightful company. I am very proud to be the president of the Durham RV Club. Thanks for a memorable weekend my friends.

Brad Campkin, Owner and Sales Manager of Campkin’s RV Centre, Myrtle Station, Ontario, accepted the invitation to the Ontario Recreational Vehicle Association’s (ORVDA) 25th annual AGM and Golf Tournament.

Brad was President of ORVDA in the mid-90’s and the mid 2000’s and as such is the only two time president of ORVDA. He also was on the Toronto and Hamilton RV show Committees and eventually assumed the position of Show Chair and Show Manager for several years.

“Being a part of the RV Industry has always meant a lot to me and I was inspired by the many volunteers before me who both created and improved the ORVDA” Brad said, “I am honoured to be recognised with an incredible group of Individuals who have made ORVDA the envy of the RV Industry”
